History's Heavyweights: Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Newton and Paul Revere to Headline Aspen's Newest Art and Antiques Show
Washington, DC, March 24, 2009—- Boasting a cast of history's superstars and more than 40 of the world's best art and antiques dealers, the Aspen Art and Antiques Show (http://www.armacostantiquesshows.com) makes its debut July 2-6 on the grounds of the historic Wheeler-Stallard Museum in downtown Aspen, Colorado.
Elegantly appointed tents set amidst Aspen’s breathtaking mountain-village scenery will house an exquisite painting by Vincent van Gogh, precious silver by America's famed patriot Paul Revere, a rare first-edition by Sir Isaac Newton that revolutionized science, and a host of pieces with royal or historical provenance.
"Visitors to the show will be amazed by the caliber of works on display,” says Bob James, the show's producer and president of Washington, DC-based Armacost Antiques Shows (http://www.armacostantiquesshows.com). “The dealers we're selecting are among the finest in the world, and the artworks and antiques will rival those found at the premier shows in New York and throughout Europe. It would take many months and miles of travel to experience such an amazing wealth and variety of fine artworks and antiques. We're bringing them all together in one exciting place.”
The historical venue, a stellar line-up of dealers, and a busy Fourth of July weekend all promise to make the inaugural show a big hit in upscale Aspen. With an anticipated roster of more than 40 respected dealers from the US and Europe offering for sale thousands of antiques and works of art, the show will offer a treasure trove of rarities from which to choose. Treasure-seekers will find a broad range of fine art, folk art, silver, porcelain, furniture, rugs, textiles, glass and much more, all backed by an assurance of quality and authenticity.
“We’re delighted to be part of this extraordinary new event,” says Bill Rau, president of New Orleans, LA-based MS Rau Antiques. "Aspen is a wonderful venue for a first-rate show. We'll be presenting some of most beautiful and rarest antiques and works of art ever created, and doing it in one of the most beautiful places on earth."
The show will also offer a series of lectures presented by art and antiques experts for visitors interested in gaining a more in-depth understanding of the topic. Visitors can also take advantage of free on-site appraisals provided by Annapolis, MD-based Peenstra Antiques Appraisals (http://www.http://www.peenstraappraisals.com/Home_Page_2.html), one of the country's leading appraisal firms specializing in fine art, antiques and jewelry. Todd Peenstra works with individuals and organizations worldwide to appraise single pieces and entire estates.
For nearly 40 years, Armacost Antiques Shows has been producing art and antiques shows (http://www.armacostantiquesshows.com) across the country and is recognized among the top show promoters in the field. "We produce and promote eight shows each year," says James. "Our emphasis is always on showcasing reputable dealers who offer a broad mix of fine art and antiques in an elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere. Whether you are an avid collector, decorating your home, or just love beautiful and rare things, you’ll find something to intrigue you at the new Aspen Art and Antiques Show."
Hours of the show are 11 am-7 pm, Thursday, July 2 through Sunday, July 5 and 11 am-5 pm, Monday, July 6.
Admission tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 each or for $16 each at www.ArmacostAntiquesShows.com (http://www.armacostantiquesshows.com). Children under 12 are free.

The Benefits Of Shopping Online For Antiques
Antiques are some of the best things that you can purchase when looking to adding to a collection, or looking to add to your home. Antiques come in many shapes, sizes, and years. There are large pieces and small pieces, as well as incredibly old antiques, and newly antiqued pieces. Either way, trying to find antiques can be hard. While there are always antique stores nearby, they can only hold so many antiques. It is impossible to see every antique available, as they are unique to every individual store. If you look toward the Internet for antiques, you will find multiple benefits.
